Marion P. Wright, Independent Director
Mr. Marion P. Wright is an independent member of the Board of Directors for the Company. Mr. Wright brings over 40 years’ experience with both major and independent oil companies in a career that covered much of the world including onshore and offshore assignments on six continents.
Presently, Mr. Wright is the Manager of Exploration and Production Assets for Texas Petroleum Investment Company based in Houston, Texas. In his capacity, Mr. Wright reports directly to the owners of the company and oversees a staff of 20 + engineers, geologists and geophysicists covering all company assets for exploration, drilling and reservoir engineering. Mr. Wright also supports this organization’s banking, acquisition efforts and overall business analysis including budgets, lookback analysis and operations.
Previous positions held by Mr. Wright have included consulting and advisory posts with Chevron North America Exploration and ExxonMobil Production Company. During these periods, Mr. Wright supported the development of oil and gas in specific Oklahoma and Texas areas, drilled Chevron’s first horizontal well program in Texas and coordinated all efforts for the ExxonMobil Production Company in its association with Azerbaijan.
Prior to this, Mr. Wright was the General Manager of Production – Europe, Middle East and Africa for Pennzoil and was responsible for all engineering work in support of numerous international projects in Azerbaijan, Egypt, Venezuela, Australia, North Africa, Brazil, Kuwait and the North Sea.
Mr. Wright began his career with Shell Oil Company where he advanced through various domestic and international technical and management assignments with increasing responsibility.
Mr. Wright holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering from Mississippi State University.
Mr. Wright sits as an Independent Director on the Champion Investments Board of Directors and contributes to the Compensation and Investment Committees of the Company.
